Dress Code Policies
Students are expected to “dress the part” of a dancer. In ballet and jazz classes it is extremely important for the instructors to be able to see the student’s body, free from baggy or restrictive clothing. The following dress code is in place to ensure dancers can move freely and instructors can make proper body alignment corrections.
3 to 4 years old Creative Movement
(hair pulled into a ponytail or bun)
- Pink leotard
- Pink tights
- Pink ballet shoes – ex: Dance Distributors DD-S46 (no slippers from Target/Payless) or Black ballet shoes for boys.
- Black Mary Jane tap shoes – ex: Capezio C-3800C
- No cover-ups permitted (t-shirts, sweatpants,jeans,etc.)
5 to 10 years old Jazz/Tap Combo Classes
(hair pulled back into a ponytail)
- Any colored leotard or dance tank top
- Jazz shorts or jazz pants
- Black or flesh colored tights or no tights
- Tan slip-on jazz shoes – ex: Dance Class DC-GB0
- Black Mary Jane tap shoes – ex: Capezio C-3800C
- No cover-ups permitted (t-shirts, sweatpants, jeans, etc.)
ALL Ballet Classes
(hair pulled back into a bun)
- Black leotard
- Pink, black, or flesh colored tights
- Pink canvas ballet shoes (or black for boys)
- Wrap skirts and ballet cover-ups (i.e. legwarmers, ballet belt, etc.) permitted ONLY at teacher’s discretion.
ALL Jazz/Contemporary Classes Ages 11&up
(hair pulled back into a ponytail)
- Any colored leotard or dance tank top
- Jazz shorts or jazz pants
- Black or Tan footless tights or no tights
- Foot paws/undeez
- No cover-ups permitted (t-shirts, sweatpants, jeans, etc.)
ALL Tap Classes Ages 11&up
(hair pulled back into a ponytail)
- Any colored leotard or dance tank top
- Jazz shorts or jazz pants
- Black or Tan tights or no tights
- Black tap oxford – ex: BlOCH B-S0301L
**MALE STUDENTS ENROLLED IN BALLET, TAP & JAZZ CLASSES MAY WEAR BLACK PANTS AND A WHITE TANK OR T-SHIRT.
