2006-2007

Attendance/Make-Up Policy
Dance requires discipline and consistency. For this reason, we expect students to attend class every week. When a student misses a rehearsal, it not only hinders their performance, it hinders the overall progress and cohesiveness of the class. No refunds/credits are given for Dancers missing class, classes cancelled due to inclement weather, missed classes due to vacation, Holidays and/or days off. Make-up classes are available for absences due to illness or other personal reasons, during regularly scheduled classes; provided, however, missed classes must be made-up within two (2) weeks of the absence and can only be made up in a class of the same dance discipline, of equal or lower level. Registration at the front desk for make-up classes is required. Missed classes may not be applied to unpaid or overdue tuition. Business Discussion
If at any time you wish to speak with an instructor, please leave a message with the front desk receptionist and the instructor will call you. The dancers are our utmost priority and we are here to serve them. Our goal is to provide a fun and challenging dance education. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let us know. Contact can also be made through email at bfunkdance@yahoo.com.Dancer Code of Conduct
To ensure that dancers receive a full hour of instruction and an appropriate warm-up, it is imperative that students arrive on time for all classes. Please make sure you come to class physically and mentally prepared to dance. Dancers are expected to respect their instructors and fellow students. Any rude or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Any student who damages property at the studio will be held financially responsible. Inappropriate behavior will be handled in the following manner:
1. Verbal Warning 2. Parent Conference 3. Suspension from class.

Dress Code
Students are expected to “dress the part” of a dancer. In ballet and jazz classes it is extremely important for the instructors to be able to see the student’s body, free from baggy or restrictive clothing. The following dress code is in place to ensure dancers can move freely and instructors can make proper body alignment corrections. Dance attire and shoes can be purchased either through Dance Distributors 1-800-33-Dance / www.dancedistributors.com or at Premier Dance Gear located in the Enchanted Forrest Shopping Center.

We will have flyers and newsletters distributed to the students throughout the year. In order to help parents receive recent news it is important that you come in to the studio monthly to check the board in the lobby and the front desk for new flyers. We also do e-mail blasts. To insure we have your e-mail address, please see the front desk receptionist. We will do our best to make sure each student receives the information. We will also try to keep our website updated with new information. Please help us by checking with your dancer for updates.

Recital
The annual production is scheduled for the end of May or beginning of June depending on the availability of the school. The week prior will need to be reserved for recital practice, tech and dress rehearsals. Participation in the recital is optional. If you participate in the recital it is mandatory to attend technical and lighting rehearsal as well as full dress rehearsal. Exact times and dates of all rehearsals and shows will be announced in the coming months. Students unable to attend mandatory rehearsals will not be permitted to participate in the recital.
• Tuition must be paid in full for participation in the recital.
• Costumes must be paid in full by November 1, 2006. Costumes will not be ordered without full payment.
If the dancer will not be participating in the recital a “Recital Withdrawal” form must be completed and returned by November 1, 2006. You may pick up this form at the front desk. The start of business, November 2, 2006 you will be financially responsible for all recital costs if you have not completed this form. No exceptions. It is important that you complete this form so that we do not order a costume for you and so that we can inform the teacher of your decision.
Staging and Dress Rehearsal is the final opportunity to make any last minute adjustments and to set placement and lighting for the show. It is very important to have the dancer’s full attention to ensure that the rehearsal and recital goes as smoothly and quickly as possible. As a result, all recital rehearsals are closed to everyone except dancers and pre-assigned backstage volunteers. A limited number of volunteers will be needed for rehearsals and during the recital. A sign-up sheet will be available at the front desk closer to the recital and only those individuals who have signed-up in advance will be permitted into the auditorium or backstage.
Last year we had three shows; two on Saturday and one on Sunday afternoon. Each student will participate in at least one show, possibly more. Please be aware there are additional fees associated with the recital such as costumes, tights, shoes, and tickets.
Recital Tickets
Each family will be sent an invoice in advance to purchase four tickets. After the advance ticket purchase deadline, tickets will be made available to the public. We would encourage you to purchase your four tickets in advance as our shows do sell out! Ticket sales help offset facility rental, professional sound, lighting and staging fees and other costs associated with the production. Please keep in mind that this is a professional quality production. In addition, a portion of proceeds will benefit a local charity and the B. Funk B. Real Scholarship Award.
Costumes
We will be invoicing dancers for costumes in October. All costume payments are due by November 1, 2006. Costume fees range from $45.00-$100.00. Measurements will be taken in class. Once a costume is ordered, no refunds will be given and all balances must be paid in full. B.Funk B. Real Scholarship Award
A $1,000. scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior at the annual recital. This money is given to assist our graduating seniors with college expenses. Any current senior High School dancer at B.Funk may apply for the B.Funk B. Real Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to the student who has shown improvement in their dancing and has been an excellent role model at the studio. Applications are available at the front desk. Birthday Parties
Come and celebrate your special day or any other occasion with a dance party at B. Funk. Parties last 2 hours, including one hour of instruction and an hour to party, eat, play games, etc. Cost is $15 per person (10-person payment minimum). See the front desk personnel for more information or to schedule a party.Parking
We have additional parking in the back of the building. There is a lighted sidewalk at the end of the building leading to the studio. Please do not block or wait in the handicapped area or at the top of the road for students. Your safety is our utmost priority. Thank you for your cooperation.
