Competitive Teams
b.funk is proud to offer 5 competitive/performance dance companies. This talented group of dancers is selected through an annual audition process to represent b.funk at numerous events, competitions and conventions nationwide. They are committed to a more intense training schedule which focuses on improving their technical skills for staying competitive in the world of dance. Our Company classes are for those students who have a real passion for dance and hunger for learning and performing.
PeeWee Company (7-8 yrs)
Members of this company are required to train in all dance disciplines including but not limited to, Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Hiphop. Students focus on basic dance principles while given the opportunity to grow as a performer and test their abilities at regional dance competitions . PeeWee dancers are required to take at least 4 hours of classes a week. Additional Sunday rehearsals are scheduled as needed to work on choreography.
Junior Company (9-10yrs)
Members are required to train in all dance disciplines including but not limited to Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap and Hiphop. Students will begin to focus on developing more difficult technicall skills and abilities while concentrating on enhancing their stage presence and performance qualities. Junior Prep dancers are required to take at least 5 and 1/2 hours of classes per week. Additional Sunday rehearsals are scheduled as needed to work on choreography.
Teen Company (11-13 yrs)
Members of this company are required to train in all dance disciplines. Students must have mastered all basic and intermediate skills in all dance styles. They must display advanced technical abilities in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Musical Theater, Hiphop and Contemporary styles of dance. Students must also demonstrate coordination, agility, flexibility, strength, stage presence, ability to quickly pick-up stylized choreography and DEDICATION to improvement.
Senior Company (14-18 yrs)
Members of this company are required to train in all dance disciplines. Students must be at an ADVANCED level in all dance styles. Students will focus on pre-professional training in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hiphop, Musical Theater and Contemporary. Their training consist of at least 8 hours of classes a week as well as 3 additional hours every other Sunday. This is geared towards those students who are highly motivated and may be considering a possible career in the dance industry or participating in a dance program at the collegiate level.
HipHop Crew (13 and under)
Members of this company are required to take at least 3 hours of hiphop classes a week and encouraged to enroll other styles as well. Students are introduced to all styles of Hiphop from commercial to breaking to freestyle.
